Symbolic Images

The many deities depicted in Buddhist art represent the positive potential of living beings. They are related to in different ways, according to the many traditions of Buddhism. They are treated as separate god-like beings by some, and to others they serve as representatives of particular positive minds - indeed the relationship is ultimately left to the individual practitioner. Whatever the relationship, however, the underlying principle of Buddhist values of self-development lead to these images representing something that we ourselves can attain.

On this page we will provide links to images of Buddhas that have been produced by our artists and give a little understanding of what they represent.
