Educational Projects

Of our four artists Emily Rogers and Clio Wondrausch both lead Workshops and give talks on the subjects that surround their artwork.

Details of these are laid out below...

Emily has been painting and studying for nine years and gives talks and workshops on the many subjects that surround the tradition of Thangka painting.

She explains the symbolism involved with the images with depth and clarity and encourages in her workshops individual artistic expression within the framework of traditional Buddhist art.

Working with people of all ages, Emily currently takes workshop sessions on occassional Sundays, when she works towards producing a fully qualified thangka with each of her students.

She leads through the whole process; constructing the grid, working with canvas, choosing a subject, different stages of paint application and brocading. Painting a thangka involves working with both the technical skills and emotions of the student. Working symbolism into the image provides an real opportunity for study and exploration.

Sessions are £40 for the day including lunch and anyone is welcome. Just give her a call to check availability - 01803 862871

Clio leads workshops painting with earth pigments. Her workshops include sourcing the raw materials, grinding and mixing them into working pigments, and opening the heart of creativity that lies in us all to produce original images.

She also leads 'Wild Food' walks.

Clio: 'Wild plants are bursting with vitality, flavour, healing and nourishment. In the summer particularly, the time of edible flowers, the beauty of a meal is breathtaking. I teach, taking people out gathering. Then we prepare a fine feast and eat together.

Both artists enjoy meeting people interested in their artwork and workshops in whatever capacity.

Emily and Clio are able to give tuition on an individual and group basis.
