Sacred Union
The original of this images was painted in natural earth pigments.
Autumn 2003, a day of Peace Protest in London at the International Arms Trade Fair. I wanted to go - to make a difference. I chose to stay and to spend the day in my studio to create a piece dedicated to Peace. This is what finally emerged February 2004, inspired by the love my partner and I share. The spirals symbolize our individual connection with the Source, our well pool within, our learning and healing. By each of us nourishing the relationship, by caring for one another, by being mirrors, both student and teacher, we learn to love and thereby to serve more fully the whole.
The couple is supported by the strong, living, energetic Earth. Embraced by the mystery of the night, the unknown; with bright stars as their wise celestial guides and like horned Pan or Egyptian Goddess Hathor, they share a New Moon embracing a Full Moon and Sun. Honouring life, themselves and each other, they are as angels, spiritual beings. Surrounded by love, in love, they embody our potential and the possibility of Peace on Earth.
