After a long dark winter of despair, I felt the first glimmer of hope, a sign of Spring and new life. A tender young shoot, drawn by the light, pushes its way through the frozen ground. Even though it is so tender and so tiny it connects directly with massive, powerful stars. They share cosmic communion. They share existence. She acknowledges and nurtures the miracle, tending a fragile new beginning as she dares to bare herself to life again. From the depths of the underworld, she is reborn, drawn by the inevitable pull of the new season. The image shaped itself, depicting clearly my own experience, giving me hope and inspiration. It's drawn with rough charcoal from the fire and lumps of raw clay onto carpet underlay. |
