Tara Prints

All of Emily Rogers's prints from Sarasvati Arts provide a brief description of the deity on the reverse along with the sacred letters Om, Ah and Hum marked at the Crown, Throat and Heart of the deity respectively. These symbolize the Buddha's body, Speech and Mind. Within the Tibetan Tradition of Thangka Painting, the placing of these letters behind the image is seen to be the final stage of production, the moment of inviting the actual Buddha into the image.

Tara
The original thangka of this deity was painted in gouache. It is owned by Emily Rogers and is frequently seen at Sarasvati Art's exhibitions.

Female Buddha of Swift Compassion
Green Tara is associated with the element of wind and sits with her right leg extended symbolising her ability to swiftly protect all beings from fear and danger.

She holds the stems of blue upala flowers in both hands. With her right hand she demonstrates the mudra of supreme giving. The mudra of her left hand represents the Three Precious Jewels - Buddha, his teachings and his followers.

The element of wind is alluded to in this image by the rippling of the water.
